Welcome to my website! My name is Enric Vila-Villasante and I am an applied microeconomist with interests in Education and Behavioral economics in low- and high-income contexts. My main research interests are human capital formation — focusing on the role of parents and teachers — the emergence of socio-emotional skills, and the effects of socio-emotional and cognitive factors on decision-making.
In my current research, I use field experiments and survey data to explore the drivers of human capital formation in low- and middle-income countries. For my job market paper, “Social Preferences as Human Capital: Intergenerational Transmission in an Ethnically Diverse Context,” I implemented a lab-in-the-field experiment to study the intergenerational transmission of social preferences and in-group bias in ethnic Bulgarian and ethnic Roma households in Bulgaria.
